Hi there,

I would like to know how to set up a custom Drum kit so that either the onboard Arpeggios or a custom Arpeggio is be mapped correctly with the individual drum sounds.

Thanks!

For custom Drum Parts the name of the game would be replacing kit pieces with samples of similar type.  There are no rules here but the built in arpeggios are customized to particular kits which use up to 16 MIDI notes and each of these MIDI notes is a different drum key.  You can play the drum arp and use a DAW's piano roll to determine which MIDI notes the arp uses then replace each of those note's sample (waveform) with a like waveform.  So say there's a snare sound there - probably best to stick to a snare.  Or crash ... Or bass drum ...

If creating a custom arp then I would still use a mapping of drum keys that matches a built-in kit in order to allow for having that custom kit work both with your custom arp and also preset arps.

You can't alter key assignments for preset arpeggios. So if you create a custom drum kit and want to use a preset arp you need to make sure your drum kit assigns appropriate sounds to the notes the preset arp uses.

The Data List doc has a 'Drum Kit Assign List' section that lists each key and the percussion sound it uses. And the doc's 'Arpeggio Type List' section has a 'sound type' column that will list the name of the associated drum kit for an arp used by a drum kit.

Before creating your own drum kit or custom arps you might consider reviewing the preset drum kits and arps to see if what you need has already been done.

What are your reasons for creating a custom drum kit?

Custom user drum kits that use factory arps only need be concerned with changing the 16 (or less) drum keys used in the arp which is why I suggest playing the MIDI of the arpeggio (turn arp MIDI out on so you see the output notes instead of the arp trigger notes ).  Then when you've gathered which MIDI notes the preset arp plays you'll know which drum keys to modify and which won't matter since the arp doesn't play them.

This was already mentioned before but I added some more detail on how to get it done.
