Steinberg will email it to you once you create your MySteinberg Account.
There is no downside to getting a MySteinberg Account, if your computer blows up, gets lost or stolen, or just gets old and you get a new one, your Cubase license will simply be transferred to your new computer via your MySteinberg Account... besides you need to have one to get rhe Activation Code. That is what all of the instructions are trying to tell you.

I think im going to have to uninstall CUBASE and elicenser and reinstall them.
Code for elicenser isn't working.

If I reinstall everything, should I open the CUBASE AI from stienberg or save CUBASE to my pc and then open it?
Sorry I don't know much about how to do this.

These two sentences from your post above - says it all.. Don't do that... If Cubase is installed and the elicenser is in place - what do you think reinstalling them would do?
I think it will get you right back to where you are... but I've only done this a hundred times (no exaggeration)...

Please don't reinstall everything.

Yes I received an email from stienberg with an activation code for the elicenser.

I tried to enter the code in elicenser but it didn't work.

It was a different code than the MODX CUBASE code that I got with the MODX.

That's how it works. A code for a code. Follow the breadcrumbs correctly and you get Cubase AI. The video BM posted for you walks you through the entire process - follow it.

At 4:52 he entered the original code. Few seconds later (5:08) he gets the "Activation Code" - which is different. Then he downloaded cubase AI. And showed that you get an email with the "Activation Code" from Steinberg (6:34) so you will still have a copy even if you didn't save it off from the initial display at 5:08. Then he ran the installer for cubase AI. Then agreed to terms. Then installed. Then at time 7:57 - he shows running the application "eLicenser Control Center". This is the "key". It's what you have to do next if you haven't already.

Click on the "Enter Activation Code" button - then paste in your code from the email. Activation code. The 2nd code you got from Steinberg. Not the one from the card. Press "Continue". Then install license. That does it. Your computer needs to have internet access to do this since the license is grabbed from the net.

If you have problems - follow the video. Start over from the beginning of the video.

If what you're saying is that the code from the Steinberg email you received does not work in elicenser - then this is probably a support issue with Steinberg. Make sure you're using the new code and not the code from the card. The code on the card isn't an "activation code" which is what you should be entering into the elicenser.

Access Code gets you an Activation Code (via email).

Excellent. It’s unfortunate but such routines are necessary to ensure that at least a majority of users of the software are entitled users of the software. If you have issues, or switch computers entirely, because you are registered user, Steinberg can reactivate your license on your new computer.

Its looking pretty good.
When I opened it to peek in I saw that STIENBERG has MODX ready to go templates, awesome!

MODX is the best synth I have ever had.
With CUBASE it is going to be too cool.

I have read this with interest because I also cannot download Cubase AI. I managed to register a Steinberg account, but I get stuck every time I am asked for the elicenser number. I downloaded the elicenser centre have no idea how to register there.

What am I doing wrong?

The card that comes with the MODX has the url to download Cubase. Do you have that white card? The white card has the Access Code you will need to start the process. The Access Code will allow you to get the Activation Code that you need to allow the eLicenser to activate your copy of Cubase AI. You’ll receive that via email through your MySteinberg Account. The email you get from Steinberg will have the number and letters you will need to put into the eLicenser.
