I want to control a motion sequence from the MS amplitude and shape knobs (there's no way to assign knobs to a motion sequence so far as I know). But nothing happens. Local Control is on; other knobs such as Filter Cutoff work; the display shows Part x Amplitude changing; I've tried various initial settings of Amplitude in the Part's Motion Sequence Edit screen, as I know the knob controls the offset value... but it's not affecting it. What have I missed?

Solution: I hadn't pressed the MS FX button. It all works fine now.

Thanks for posting the 'fix'.

Could you give some info about how you use the 'shape' control? I've looked at that but the the shape parm goes from -100 to +100 but there aren't that many different shapes.

And the shapes are necessarily compatible with each other.

Have you figured out some correlation between the shape parameter value and the shape you end up with?

The MS control switches also need to be ON.

You didn't mention if you have set the Control Switches to ON for Prm1 and/or Prm2 on the 'Edit Sequence' page as shown on page 48 of the Modx Reference doc.

And you, or others, may find Bad Misters comments in this old thread about using those knobs to manipulate the parameters

At the end of the thread he references Manny Fernandez's "Manny's FM-Xplorations Article 5'. In that article Manny also goes thru using those knobs and the article includes a link to a 10 minute video where he demonstrates it all. I just watched the 'shape' portion and it is a pretty good demo. Don't know if foreign links are ok in the forum so remove the hyphens from below:

I want to control a motion sequence from the MS amplitude and shape knobs (there's no way to assign knobs to a motion sequence so far as I know)

Unfortunately neither the Modx nor the classic Montage have those parameters as destination options. Turns out they ARE available on the Montage M models as shown on p.205 of the M Operations doc. They added 8 Arp parameters and 6 MS parameters.

So on an M model you can use an MS Lane as the source for those knob parameter destinations.

MS shape will offset the Param1, Param2 modifiers for the pulse.  Not all pulse types have these param modifiers and user pulses don't have these.  Not all pulse types have more than one Param modifier.

When you look at the sequence detail where you can modify the value of each pulse (to make it "taller" ), you will see Pulse A and Pulse B has zero or more Param values.  Each of these Param numbers that exist have a "control" button that ops in and out this Param from getting offset or ignoring the offsets supplied by MS Shape.

+/- 100 is very generous given I only saw them go up to 10 or so max.  I didn't exhaust through the whole list of standard pulses.
