I know I must be missing something. I press utility, then settings, then midi in/out to usb. I press performance(home). then when I go back to utility the midi in/out switches back to midi not usb. help please...…..Larry

No, I’m pretty sure it does not. You can always tell what you’re set to by reading the very top line of the screen — you will either see a USB icon or a 5-pin MIDI jack icon. They glow blue when actively connected to a device.
On the MIDI I/O screen the option you’ve selected will be green.
