A simple question - it’s easy to see how to add a part to a performance but how do you remove a part?.
Fortunately, it is just as easy:
From the [PERFORMANCE (HOME)] screen
Touch the box containing the PART Name and Number
A pop-in menu appears
Touch “Delete”
To complete Bad Mister in picture with the pop up menu on left screen :
... curious, does the yellow color have any significance? Is the GUI hinting at anything by having this different color? Something like - this would be the default action if I had held down [SHIFT] (as an example)?
Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R

It denotes that executing this “DELETE” is not reversible by a simple action. The “Delete” Function appears in several locations within the firmware... both within the Performance itself, and in among the housekeeping duties (reached via the Utility area), and in the LIVE SET edit area.
Within the Synth Engine:
When programming within a Performance program, for example, within a Control Assign Set, the option to execute a “Delete” is not in any special color; you’ll notice that you can “delete” a Control Set assignment, non-destructively... in other words, when deleting a Control Assign, simply touching the “+” in the next available slot will restore your ‘deleted’ Control Assignment. This allows A/B comparisons, between DELETE and what was assigned to that Control Set previously; it means you can instantly see what performing the sound is like without this Control Assignment and you can quickly restore it if you wish to undo the removal action.
The yellow “Delete” that appears in the pop-in menu while programming within a Performance, if executed, is not easily restored. If you execute this “Delete”, to remove a Part from your Performance, your previous selection for that slot is gone and not recoverable by simply “+” re-adding a Part. And because you may not have set this Part as an ‘anchor’ you might be deleting work that is not stored anywhere else. (That said, there is a Performance “Recall” Function... that maybe a last resort).
If you wish to do an A/B Type comparison of the Performance without a particular Part, it is recommended to use the [MUTE] function. Use the colorful “Delete” when you are sure you wish to delete that Part from your Performance (and possible for good).
In the Utility area:
The word “Delete” appearing in yellow, is also used in functions involving the UTILITY functions (File management, and managing Data Utility Folders)... again these functions are not easily undone. Deleting a File, a Library, a Performance, a Waveform, etc., etc.,
In the “Live Set” the “Delete” is not in yellow, because it is not a situation that would be difficult to undo/redo....
The colorful DELETE found while programming and managing data is to denote the finality of that decision.
