1. What are some of the practical uses of 16 parts performances on the MODX if a max of only 8 parts can be played simultaneously?
2. Does the Montage have the same limitation or there you can play all 16 parts at once?
Cheers
MODX and Montage have the same capabilities to simultaneously control Parts under keyboard control without external connectivity. They both allow a maximum of 8 simultaneous Parts to be played by local piano keys.
The Pattern Sequencer can leverage the 16 Parts.
External gear can leverage the 16 Parts.
Using all 16 Parts could involve using the keyboard as a tone generator slave to an external controller or internally by using the pattern sequencer.
Another practical use of the 8 Parts you cannot use simultaneously (Parts 9-16) is to use them one at a time. You can do this while Parts 1-8 are being "played" by arpeggiators. So this would allow for you to have one of 8 "solo" instruments (Parts 9-16) to layer over Parts 1-8 being played by arpeggiators.
So you can have a 4-Part piano in Parts 1-4 with the arpeggiator playing it, a single Part bass in Part 5, a single Part guitar in Part 6, a single organ in Part 7, and a drum kit in Part 8 -- then Parts 9-16 you can have different "lead" sounds or even other comping single-part instruments that you switch between and manually play any one of those sounds.

I use Parts 9-16 almost exclusively when sequencing with a DAW.
On the MODX you have to keep an eye on FX use, since you can only have Inserts on 4 Parts, not all 8 of the 9-16 range. This limitation doesn't exist on the Montage.
Thanks a lot!
Wow! Never thought of any but these are great uses and indeed helpful.
This particular one made my day!

Thanks...
For me, the best part was...

A Montage 6 better than an Integra 7 ?
