Is there anyway to remove the vibrato from a violin?

Choose the Non-vibrato Waveform. You are provided both natural vibrato Waveforms and non-vibrato Waveforms as sources for the Oscillator.

Emphasis is on vibrato and Yamaha's affection towards "sweet" sounds - primarily, I gather, meaning a heavy dose of vibrato.

In the past, the only Performance ("voice" ) I could conjure up with no vibrato is "Fiddle" out of the GM set. It's still a go-to if I can't remember what other presets may or may not have vibrato-less solo violins.

Thank you very much to both of you - I'm a certifiable moron - I couldn't find the "fiddle" tab and it just never occurred to me to put in the search bar (idiot!). Used it all the time on my Motif. That solved that issue - thanks again. I have a synth sound on the Motif called Timeless - the MODX doesn't appear to have it - is there anything, that you are aware of, (assuming you are aware of that sound) that could come close to that?

"Timeless" didn't stand the test of time. Seems the last data list showing "Timeless" is the Motif ES. Original Motif had "Timeless" too. The Motif XS does not seem to have it, nor do the follow-ons. I do have an ES-series keyboard - the MO6. So I should have it to listen to. The underlying samples (Waveforms), for the most part, are all there - so one could reconstruct this Voice (now PART) - most likely. I did check to see if one of the gap-fill promos (XSpand Your World) had "Timeless" - and it did not.

There may be a more-or-less direct replacement for "Timeless". Without auditioning it on the MO6 - which needs to come out of storage - I don't have an idea yet.

Also, one approach to bring back "Timeless" would be to load it from the "Motif Classic" (original Motif). Following:

Source: https://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/music_production/synthesizers/montage/compatibility.html

Compatibility with the MOTIF ES
Compatibility with the MOTIF ES
The voices of Yamaha’s MOTIF ES synthesizer can be loaded into the MONTAGE by using both MOTIF XF Editor VST and MOTIF ES Voice Editor software. Note, however, that since the internal waveforms of the MOTIF ES and the MONTAGE do not match, the MOTIF ES’s compatibility with the MONTAGE is equivalent to its compatibility with the MOTIF XS. Only voices that are based on the MOTIF ES’s internal waveforms can be read, so voice data created using user samples cannot be loaded. In addition, MOTIF ES Voice Editor may not be compatible with the latest versions of computer operating systems, so a computer able to run the software will be needed. The steps for loading a voice file are as follows.

1. Save the voice data in the MOTIF ES. Select either All Files (.W7A) or All Voice Files (.W7V) as the file save format.

2. Copy the saved file via USB flash memory, and open it using MOTIF ES Voice Editor.

3. Save the copied file using MOTIF ES Voice Editor. Use the file extension .W7E.

4. Import the saved .W7E file using MOTIF XF Editor VST.

5. Save the imported file using MOTIF XF Editor VST with the file extension .X3E.

6. Load the saved .X3E file into the MONTAGE via USB flash memory.

Also see https://www.yamahasynth.com/ask-a-question/transferring-motif-es-voices

... the Motif Classic presets are released in W7E form - so you can start at step 4. File is located here: http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/view/motif_classic_voices_in_motif_es_voice_editor_format

I haven't tried to download the file, hopefully the link is OK. Nor have I tried the conversion - hope it's close. There's not a 1:1 set of waveforms in MODX vs. the Classic.
