Hi there,
I have found the MODX great for doing a lot of 70-00s covers however I am now being called upon to do modern songs, Lady Gaga, Dual Lipa, etc., which feature a lot of risers, falls, swooshes, etc. which are used eg. in build-ups to chorus's etc.
I am wondering if I can create these within the MODX or need to import wave samples, and if so, how/where to find these samples.
Thanks for any advice.
cheers
If you want pitch to slowly (or quickly) rise or fall then use PEG (pitch envelope generator).
If you had YouTube links at specific timestamps which demonstrated some of the things you're trying to do someone can help you build the sound.
Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
I'm very grateful for the information you've given
Hi Jason
around 53 sec for this fall effect (not sure how to create a time stamp?)
around 53 sec for this fall effect (not sure how to create a time stamp?)
Pause the video at the time you want and then right-click and choose 'save link at current time'
There are a lot of videos on the net about how to use the PEG Jason suggested to get a rise/fall effect.

That video shows how to get a rise/fall when YOU press a key. Once you have the effect you want you can use an arpeggio or motion sequence to automate things.

Dom Sigalas has done some YouTube videos focusing on Synthesiser effects including Risers removed link
Generally speaking, "Modern Music" makes heavy use of a lot of Synthesiser Tricks, so brushing up on general Synth Techniques is also a good idea. The MODX is a Synthesiser after all.
There is an excellent Tutorial Series on YouTube called "Synth Clips" presented by Daniel Fisher. I found these extremely helpful. Daniel covers "all the bases", and a lot of what he teaches will help you relate to the Synth aspects of the MODX... Waveforms (Oscillators), Envelopes, Filters, LFOs, etc.
