I am planning to buy a Modx6, it will be my first real keyboard, I have seen many videos about and just love the sound.
Since it has no onboard speakers I want to buy some nice studio monitors.
The modx has unbalanced outputs and many studio monitors have only balanced inputs and if they do have unbalanced inputs it's an rca connection. Now my question is can I buy any studio monitor I want and connect an unbalanced cable to the balanced input of the monitor and it will work or am I forced to use an adapter cable to connect to the unbalanced rca input?

Thank you

Very good question. Have been wondering the same.

Any links to info on this would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, you should be fine connecting unbalanced cables from the MODX outputs to the balanced inputs on the monitors. That's how I do it too. Since the MODX outputs are unbalanced, I can't see any benefits using a balanced cables. There majority of all keyboards and synths are using unbalanced outputs, so I would guess that this is the most common method.
