I've not spotted this in the Manuals, but is there a way to access User Performances directly? At the moment they appear to be tacked onto the Bank of the principal Part, which entails seemingly endless scrolling through the many presets to get to them. And they are scattered all through the Banks as well. Ideally - one place, immediately accessible. Like the Tyros allows - could they all be stored on a USB and accessed directly from there? Can you create a 'Library' starting with 1 Performance, and build it up? Or can a Library only be created using 640 Performances? A bit like the 'Live Sets' facility, where you can store your favourites (from those selected) with button-press access.

By default the user bank is empty - it gets "populated" by your user performances when you store edited changes as a performance and at that stage they are added sequentially to the next free slot, you don't have to make the decision of where to save it (which in a way is a good thing as you don't have to remember what user locations you have previously stored performances in). Equally though you can't access a performance directly from the front panel in the same way as you might have done with the Motif series for instance. Instead this is done from the Category Search. You can though filter it so that only the User bank performances are shown - they only appear scattered through all the banks if you are viewing All in the bank selection.

It sounds though as if you want quick access to specific user performances which is a perfect use of Live Sets - you place the performances you need to get to in live set slots and they can then be accessed directly either from the screen or the front panel buttons. There are 8 User banks of live sets each with 16 pages of 16 slots - that's 2048 locations.

Hi, like Phil explain, filter in category search allow you to find easyly your user performances :

Using Live sets is also perfect to organise your performances.

You can find more informations about categoy search on my website Moessieurs, and it's in French, like you are from France, more easy for you.

http://www.moessieurs.com/category-search-perf--montage.html

I need to write an Live Set page for my next Moessieurs update πŸ˜‰

Good morning Phil! I've been playing about on the Montage, but not getting anywhere useful. Two questions emerge from your reply. One is how to filter 'Category Search' to show only User Performances? That would be much better than the endless scrolling I have to do now! The other sounds a better bet though. I have not found how to put a User Performance (say from the 'Guitar' Bank) into the 'Live Set' User Banks. I've tried selecting my UP and then selecting 'Live Sets' and then to the User page - the name of my UP is shown at the bottom, but how to place it in the slot? The 'Store' button achieves nothing. Again I'm missing something! Who'd have thought that!? I crave your patience ... thank you and stay well ...

One is how to filter 'Category Search' to show only User Performances?

Press [CATEGORY SEARCH]
In the upper left set BANK = USER
Next to BANK is the ATTRIBUTE
These two options, along with the category MAIN and SUB, can help narrow your search.
If you remember any portion of the name you can type it into the box with the magnifying glass

I've tried selecting my UP and then selecting 'Live Sets' and then to the User page - the name of my UP is shown at the bottom, but how to place it in the slot?

Perhaps the easiest thing to do is to register a Performance to a User LIVE SET.
Call up your Performance
Hold [SHIFT] + [LIVE SET]
This will "register" the current Performance.
You are taken to the lowest numbered empty space in the USER LIVE SET. A white highlight is seen flashing around an empty location - you can choose to place it here or in any other box by simply touching the screen box. Done.

A big 'thank you' to one and all. Both methods work fine (once you know how!). I don't know if it's just me, but I find reading the Manuals like swimming in treacle when it comes to specific actions. Like (sorry about this) touch response, which is all over the place with different Performances - with one you need a very light touch indeed, and another you have to thump the keys hard. I tend towards a light touch, so is it possible to adjust the touch response in any way. The Manuals don't even mention it, but a synth of this quality must have some way of doing it? Or should I start a new Topic?

Perhaps the manuals do mention it and it's your dislike of reading them that causes you to miss some information... Just saying. It's really not important here... feel free to ask all your questions here, that's the purpose of the website. If you'd rather just have me look it up in the manual for you to show you where you've missed it, that's cool, too.

But if you simply need the answer, simply ask the question. No excuses are necessary. We're all in this to enjoy the experience.

Hold [UTILITY] + [COMMON] (upper)
This will take the shortcut to the Touch Calibration option.
Touch the box, chase the square around the screen five times, your screen is calibrated. You need to do this whenever necessary.

Please make sure you've removed the protective plastic cover that comes on the screen initially (don't laugh, there are people who leave that on, for years! Please remove it - it throws the touch screen off. It's only there to keep your screen from picking up dust on its journey to you. Remove it, throw it away. Please get a microfiber cloth for wiping down the screen... No moisture necessary, just a dry microfiber cloth.

Hi Rod.
The simply way is to read the manual for the dedicated thing you want to do.
If you want to edit something, check this part, if you want to know what a screen done, check for this screen, reading the manual from page 1 to end is difficult and you will not memorized all.
Step by step is the best way front your Montage.

Feel of course free to ask question here.and read the Bad Mister Articles.

If you want informations also in French go to Moessieurs.
You have most basics informations, check at each theme, you have "GΓ©nΓ©ralitΓ©s".

I have done 3 videos at this time, in French subtittle in English, even if they are not at profesional level, they can bring you the basic starting informations :

http://www.moessieurs.com/videos-moessieurs-montage.html

The first one is a 45 minutes for the basics to know πŸ˜‰

The information on changing the global touch sensitivity of the instrument is on page 47 of the owners manual. There is also information on adjusting the sensitivity of individual parts in a performance by altering the Velocity Depth and Velocity Offset parameters on page 60 of the reference manual.

In addition you might find that the individual sound may have velocity limited elements. For example Beauty Harp has 2 elements, each using the same waveform but with element 2 set at lower velocities and element 1 with a filter that makes the sound brighter set at the higher velocities. In this instance you could adjust the point at which the velocity triggers each element in a way that better suited your style of playing. This is quite a simple example - other sounds may have a wider range of velocity switched elements - once you delve a bit deeper and see how a sound has been programmed it is easier to adjust it to your specific purposes.
