I am trying to replicate a sound I had in a performance on my Yamaha MOTIF XF8.
It had a setting on Part 2 where AEG Release was +63.
Where is the equivalent setting on Yamaha MONTAGE? I’m currently pressing [TONE] and turning the [RELEASE] knob to max.
Thank you,
L. Spiro
Did you select Part 2?
... home base
1) [PERFORMANCE] (HOME)
2) [CATEGORY SEARCH]
3) BANK/[SOLO]
4) Number C [1] = "ARP SELECT 1"
5) [ENTER]
This selects Init Normal (AWM2) using buttons - no touchscreen
6) [PERFORMANCE CONTROL]
7) Number A [1]
... selects part 1
8) [EDIT]
... and edits this part
9) Touchscreen (TS): Bottom line, to right of "Common" is a box with a "1" and a grey circle next to the "1". Circle is grey as long as element is not sounding and am assuming no key mashing or other ways to make the element sound are happening.
... touch the box with the "1" in it to select element 1.
10) AEG = Amplitude Envelope Generator "A" is for amplitude. TS: left-hand menu touch "Amplitude" -> "Amp EG"
11) This menu has your time and level parameters for the AEG. Release only has a "time" setting - should match your Motif. Values are from 0-127
Transfer this discovery to your own performance.
Edit: Note, you could have also searched for "AEG" in all manuals. My order would have been owner's manual (more general) then reference manual (more detailed). AEG has a "hit" in page 110 of the "montage_en_rm_a0.pdf" document (reference manual). Explains how to get there and shows screenshot.
Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
Thank you.
Yes part 2 was selected, I just wanted to verify that that was setting AEG Release.
Jason, I searched the manuals for “AEG Release” and did not get the meaning of page 110. Especially because that is setting things for individual elements and I already have a +67 for each element there (so adding 63 to it would be impossible).
But page 52 shows that my guess to use [TONE] and the [RELEASE] knob (with part 2 selected) was correct. I checked that screen and found it was +63.
Thank you,
