Assign Switch 2 & Foot switch

Hi all,

I would like to assign a foot switch FC5 to control the Assign Switch 2 button.

Right now my setup is like this:

1 FC3A as sustain pedal (Sustain Input)
1 FC7 to control the Super Knob (FC2)
1 FC5 to control the Assign Switch 1 (Assignable Input)

Now, how is possible to use a second FC5 to control the Assign Switch 2 via the FC1 input? I would like to setup this not locally in each performance but GLOBALLY anytime I need to switch on or off the Assign Switch 2 by using the foot switch.

How this is possible? If is possible...

Thanks in advance! ๐Ÿ™‚

You would set "FS Assign" to the same CC as "Assign SW 2".

The "FS Assign" value is global to the entire system. Although you can set Assign SW 2 to any arbitrary CC value - ASW2 has a default value that all Performances use. So you would set the global "FS Assign" to this default CC value. You get to this screen by [PERFORMANCE] (HOME), then touch the Performance name at top, then choose "Edit", then "Control" -> "Control Number" menu tabs.

The "FS Assign" parameter can also be set by the "global" screen:

[UTILITY], "Settings" -> "MIDI I/O", "FS Assign"

Thanks for getting back Jason.

My FS Assign is already set to CC86 which controls the Assign SW 1. This is my problem, I have a second FC5 foot switch which I would like to use and control the CC87 - Assign SW 2.

I think there is no solution to this as the FS Assign is only one.

FC1 port should work if you assign it to the same address and are within the range to turn on/off the A.SW2 -- but you can't use a footswitch pedal. You'd need an FC7. If you plug a switch into FC1 or FC2 (FC1 and FC2 being the inputs on the back of Montage) - then the wiring and connector is compatible and will therefore force the setting to 0 and not change.

You could probably get a TRS cable, a female TS 1/4 "phono" jack and rig up a converter so the foot switch works. But without some hacking - it isn't going to work.

The other option is a MIDI pedal.

I had, a while back, posted a suggestion to Ideascale to enable using the sustain pedal as a second footswitch would would allow assignment of it to an assignable switch or a variety of other uses.
