The most useful new v3.00 feature to me is the return to where I came from when pressing 'Category Search' ... thank you Yamaha - saves me dozens of unnecessary button presses every session! I use the 'INIT' sounds a lot as I find the 'Elements' so rewarding, but Montage never goes back to 'INIT' - always to 'No Assiugn' - so am I missing something here, or is that to be expected? This is not a complaint, just curious!
If I am understanding the query...
What you need to know:
The Search engine will maintain the “Bank” and the “Attribute” when you’ve activated a Category Search.
If you use the “Init” Templates set the “Bank/Favorite” = All or Preset... “Init” will always be a selectable option.
The Main and Sub Categories are for you to enter... the Bank and Attribute settings will persist between searches.
Thanks BM! You understood me perfectly - I was looking for too much, is all. So if I save the 'Init Normal AWMl2' (for example) as a Library, Montage will return to exactly where I want to be ... I'll give that a try next time I'm in the Musicube ... stay well ...
? Why would you need to store “Init Normal (AWM2)” as a Library?
Hi BM - well, if Montage returns to the Bank I started from (and its Attributes) then if I had a Library with just the 'Init Normal AWM2' in it then Montage would return to it. The way I try combinations (mostly 4 Elements) is by creating a block of 16 x 4 Element Pfs in a fixed sequence. I only reduce the Common volume at that stage, and I want them done in the shortest time so I can start on the much more interesting tweaking of each Pf in turn. A few get discarded, and a few are marked for further fine tuning. But at the initial 'block building' stage, speed matters - not having to tap the screen to select the 'Init' helps a bit ... besides, I like to try stuff just to see if it works ...
I know I could tweak each and every one as I go along - but my attention span is limited, and I find that on the whole, 16 Pfs is about right and it suits Montage as well. Just the way I like to do things. I guess everyone has different methods. My mind works on mathematical principles rather than musical ones (not dissimilar, actually) and I like logical patterns rather than inspired leaps. Both methods work - it depends on the person ...
Just to say I have created a Library with only the 'INIT Normal AWM2' in it (!) and it works perfectly. Streamlines the work'flow so far as I'm concerned. It suggests that the 'Library' could be a useful tool in other things too ...
