Hello - Having now assembled a collection of 'first edit' Pfs, I have created a 'Main Library' with them on the USB back-up. They all still exist on the Montage as the 'User' Bank, which I will have to delete so that I can bring back my 'Main Library' and convert it from ROM to RAM, ie: convert it back to 'User' status so that I can start on the 'Second Edit' ... but it will still exist on the USB as originally saved.

After a session of 'Second Edits' - perhaps half a dozen or maybe two dozen Pfs - I will again save the whole Bank as a Library to prevent accidents - but I want to replace the Library already on the USB rather than add another one, So how do I delete the Library on the USB, please? Deleting from the Montage is no problem - but I don't see how to delete it from the USB.

Thanks ...

Hello Phil - Egad! Simple as that! One gets sort of tunnel vision doing this stuff ... so Montage can't delete from USB? That dies make sense, it is supposed to be a permanent record! Computers can't read the files though - I remember I hoped to check what was on there, but couldn't. But I did find a ton of stuff I have no idea how it got there, which I have now deleted. But I'm having second thoughts about deleting the original Library. There is plenty of room, so deletion isn't necessary, and it may be handy to keep it for future ideas.

I would personally clean up the USB on a computer - but Yamaha has traditionally had file rename/delete/copy features for the USB stick on previous keyboards. Seems like they would carry forward this philosophy.

When you select [UTILITY] "Contents" -> "Data Utility", by default I believe "> MONTAGE" is the device selected. If you press the "> MONTAGE" section with a USB drive installed, can you select the USB drive as the selected device? If so, you should be able to select the file type filter as "> Library", select one of the libraries (on the USB stick if it shows "> USB" as the device - and choose the "Delete" option.

Still do not have the keyboard online - so I'm going by memory.

so Montage can't delete from USB?

Yes, it can. Here's how:

Insert your USB drive, let the Montage find it.
Press [UTILITY]
Touch "Contents" > "Load"
Set the "Content Type" to the Type File you wish to delete.
Just to the right of the File Type will be a box that represents "Devices", if your USB drive is recognized it should just appear in the field below. Touch it to enter the drive.

The top line should now indicate Content Type > Device > USB disk (telling you exactly what you are looking at):
Listed will be the readable contents. Folders and files that are contained on that USB drive.

Touch "JOB" in the upper right corner. Turns green to indicate active
Now when you view the contents, they all show the "pop-in menu" icon, meaning touching them will allow you to select what option (job) you will perform.
Rename or Delete are your Options.

Hope that helps.

Hello Jason and BM - yet again Montage comes up with the goodies! Thank you guys - after all that, I'm keeping the original Library I created as it contains a lot of Pfs (408 of 'em) that I could further edit in various ways, and I especially want to get into the 'Elements' area, where I think I can do even more damage. Using the 'Categories' as sub-Libraries works well, but I still think that 640 Pfs is too many for ease of handling, and 16 Libraries (to match the Categories) of 320 Pfs each would be better, if Yamaha would think about that - no idea how difficult that would be to actually do, but it sounds simple to me! Thanks again, stay well ... please!
