Since the MONTAGE can play WAV audio files, I was wondering if I had a mix of backing tracks like Verse, Chorus, Bridge, End, Intro (etc.,) and use the SCENES to trigger and play them. Then to end, you could have one SCENE that is silent perhaps.

If the MONTAGE can not, this should be an update for sure!

Thanks!

Scenes do not trigger anything.

It would probably be easiest to assign 5 keys near the bottom (or top) of your keyboard for Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Outro - then press the right key for what's coming next. You may be able to use ARPs so you can cut over to the next key by "measure" for back-to-back playback.

You would create a keybank based off of sound files for each section.

If using ARPs then the keys do not have to be mapped to any playable key (can be outside the range of your selected keyboard octave transposition).

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R

Sounds good Jason!

Say... is there anyway to tell how much room you have data wise for WAV? Also, MP3 are find as well I take it.

Thanks!

You'll need to convert any audio format to AIFF or WAV if using this suggested method - although if you use something like the registered JM tools - that accepts various other audio formats and does the conversion for you. Then you would have to load/install the format the (Motif XF) JM tools produce.

Audio formats can be freely converted using open source sound utilities such as audacity or others.

Amount of sample memory left - where this "WAV" data will end up:

1) [PERFORMANCE] (HOME) -- paranoid maybe not needed step just to get to "home base"
2) [UTILITY]
3) Touchscreen (TS): "Contents" -> "Data Utility" menu
4) TS: Touch the "Waveform" square (folder)
5) TS: Upper-right shows:

Sample Memory
XX/1.8GB

where "XX" is the space used out of the maximum 1.75GB (rounded up to 1.8GB). Mine currently shows 94.2MB used - which has just less than 1GB left over if I subtract the "used amount" from 1.75GB
