Can Montage slave to external digital audio clock master?

I am setting up an audio system and want my computer as the system master clock, and Montage 7 as the slave. Can Montage 7 be set to read sync on its USB audio input? NOTE: This is for digital audio (not MIDI) clock sync. Thanks

I also have this question. I've always had a single stable clock to sync the studio (think house black) and I'd like my Montage 8 to slave to my audio house clock. On my ES6 I was able to sync input to Digital In (which included clock) but I have no idea how to do similar on the Montage. I'm super excited about the USB Digital Outputs, however this topic has not appeared in my searches in the Montage manual.

Edit - Initially went down a MIDI sync path. Backing that out.

Although it may not help define the question - it'd help me to know what two things need to be in sync. If a clock is master by a PC and Montage is the slave - to me, the two "things" in sync are not PC and Montage. But if the PC sources the clock for say video on the PC and audio on a Montage - then the two things sync'd are Audio (Montage) and Video (PC). Just curious what the other "slave" entity is that is to be synchronized with Montage sourced by the common (PC) clock.

... and I see a previous thread where a user was told in their situation MTC would not be needed - but not that Montage did not support MTC. MTC would be the usual path, I would guess, to slave to house black.

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R

Speaking for myself - I have a Pro Tools HDX system using HDIOs (4 of them) as the "house black"clock. I have a miniDSP USBStreamer USB->ADAT Optical device bridging the HDIO ADAT optical to in a Macintosh based Aggregate IO comprising the Montage and the miniDSP. This allows the Montage 8 to "talk" digitally to Pro Tools. I use Cubase 9 as well as VEP 6 to route the Montage audio to the miniDSP.

While I can make the Montage master clock (and slave Pro Tools via the Optical ADAT Port), I'd prefer to have the Montage 8 lock to house black maintaining a singular clock source at all times.

My questions - is this possible? If so - how? If not - I'd like explicit confirmation that Montage can only be master.

Apologies for omitting on first post - I didn't want non Yamaha/Steinberg brands to be the focus and lose the sight of the question - that being "how do I slave Montage digital audio to external clock".

When I try to set my MacPro as the clock Master (usually in Digital Performer) the Montage kind of 'steals' that position when I'm not on that screen, which sometimes results in crackling audio. BadMister has said that making the DAW the master can be a good idea. I only wish I could make it work consistently. It often does though.

MONTAGE is a peer-to-peer device and when connecting digitally via the Yamaha Steinberg USB (YSUSB) driver it will be the master clock. It only works in asynchronous mode as the method of USB audio transfer.

This asynchronous mode uses a very stable and fixed frequency clock which is locked to an exceptionally low jitter oscillator within MONTAGE. This is very advantageous in terms of sound quality.

If you want to use a different digital audio system I would suggest you get a set of high quality balanced cables that are TRS 1/4 to XLR. You can connect to whatever digital audio interface in this manner and it will sound amazing. It this system you will have both the main L/R outputs and the assignable outputs available.

It will also sound amazing connecting peer-to-peer using the YSUSB driver and things will sound amazing this way as well.
