Hello,
I have a problem with updating Montage 8. I have my USB with the file and everything i know its OK.
When i turn on the keyboard pushing utility+cursor up it does nothing but booting in the normal way. Buttons work properly and doing the same i have been able to upgrade Montage 7 and Montage 6 (I work in a backline company, not rich :D).
Can someone bring me some light here?
Is there any protection for upgrade booting i have to disable or something like that?
Thanks and sorry for my english!
Hello Joel,
Few things I would try (general):
- Make sure the USB Port of your Montage is functioning properly. Try to read your device in play mode.
- Re-format the USB on the Montage.
- Re-download the files from the web (make sure they are on the root of the USB).
- Back-up and Factory Reset the Montage before the update.
Hope it helps!

What's "the file" you have in the root directory of your USB stick? I ask because firmware comes as a ZIP file and you have unzip and place the firmware image (.PGM) file in root.
Beyond that, the most common issue tends to be the USB stick itself. Many USB sticks come with an extra partition for "value add" utilities from the USB stick manufacturer. Sandisk is a common such manufacturer but there are others. Your keyboard is not able to delete these extra partitions. It can only format partitions that exist but cannot wipe partitions. To wipe the entire stick, you'd need to use your computer and some form of disk management utility.
It's easier, if this is the issue, to find a less "fancy" USB stick that already comes pre-formatted without extra partitions. I tend to go cheap and find the smallest sized stick I can find. Once found - mark this is your Montage firmware stick and keep it for future updates too.

Not sure what others use; however I thought it wouldn't hurt to share in case someone is looking for a USB stick that is compatible & works great with the Montage, as I have never had any issues whatsoever with my sticks on the Montage.
I have two "Kingston DataTraveler 100 G3" USB sticks (32GB & 64GB)
