Hello - for a reason I am unable to ascertain, 'Connect' has started picking up the contents of my 'Synth Library' folder instead of the 'Montage X7B' folder. It also shows drives C and D. Can anyone explain how this could happen, and what I can do to correct it, please?
The 'Synth Library' folder contains all articles, manuals and notes about all 3 of my synths, whereas the 'Montage X7B' folder contains just X7B files. It was perfectly OK yesterday. I had downloaded BM's FM-X samples to the Synth Library folder by mistake, but have copied them to the Montage X7B folder and deleted them from the Synth Library folder.
Issues with your computer? The files go where you direct them. As explained in your other Post, under the FILE NAME is the PATH, which is the 'path' (or LOCATION) on your particular computer that directs the program to your selected folder. This is under YOUR control. The program will persist - means it will continue to direct itself to the last PATH you used.
Computer basics: When you download anything from the Internet, it typically goes to your DOWNLOAD folder, unless YOU change it. If you do change it, the next time you come back to download something it will default to the last place YOU directed it. This is computer basics. Not just true of "Montage Connect".
When in the Montage Connect program (Save/Load) you can Navigate throughout your entire computer. I recommend you designate a specific FOLDER for your Montage Connect data. And then always direct it there - if you get data from an Internet download - once you download it MOVE it to your Montage folder. Montage Connect will go where you've last directed it.
The last folder you reference will appear, by default, the next time you open the program. If you *change* where it is looking, it will continue to look there... wherever the PATH is directing it.
Try creating a specific folder and try sticking with it.
Hello BM - Got it! I don't remember precisely what I did when I got tangled downloading your FM-X samples, but I must have inadvertently changed the destination path ... can't see the wood for the trees, sort of thing. Now fixed in accordance with your pointers! Thanks! (again!). Incidentally I have downloaded your FM-X Tutorials as well - learned a new trick from Jason that allows this to be done easily.
