Hi ALL,

Has anyone had any experience with using the Dell P2418HT Touch Screen monitor with the Montage? The Dell screen displays the info from the Montage screen and responds to touch. The issue is that on the Dell, when I touch a Live Set preset, for example, it selects a different preset. In other words, the Dell isn't calibrated to the Montage screen. I've tried the calibration routine (press and hold "Part Common" +" Utility" + "Enter"). The white squares for calibration show up on the Dell screen but do not respond to touch.

Any thoughts? The Montage's touchscreen is too small for my old eyes.

Thanks,
John

I see no confirmed reports that the P2418HT has been used as a touchscreen for Montage. I haven't seen anything except the Dell S2240T used for touch. Many monitors work for just screen output without touch. The challenge would be to find monitors that match the touch serial protocol (handshake/commands/coordinates). This is hit or miss. Mostly miss since there was never any attempt to support a wide array of devices.

Maybe someone else can chime in and give more definitive feedback or suggestion for a current production alternative.

S2240T monitors are sparse but do show up on the used market from time to time.

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R

Hello John, as Jason says, the only Dell touch-screen I've heard of that works with the Montage is the S2240T, which exactly reproduces the Montage screen and responds to all touch commands correctly. Like you, my poor eyes and errant fingers have problems with the Montage screen, not to mention having to crouch over it all the time. I've had a Dell S2240T for over 18 months now, with a 15" long stylus to do the touching with - perfect every time. Doesn't help you with your screen, I'm sorry, but I rather think you'll need to get yourself an S2240T to really enjoy using the Montage.

One reason I've not gone for a Genos is that it does not support an external monitor, accidentally or otherwise, so for me it's a non-starter.
