Hello,

I just downloaded the 1.50 firmware updater file. The uncompressed file (8N70OS_.PGM) is copied to my formatted flash drive. With the Montage powered off, I press the ^ Cursor and the Utility buttons simultaneously and powered on the board. As soon as the "Yamaha" logo shows up, I let go of the Cursor and Utility buttons. This message shows on the screen - the first line says "Searching for the Updater ... NG", the second line says "Press INC/No to Retry".

Any help will be much appreciated.

Eddie,

ISSUE RESOLVED - the USB I was using was not supported for firmware updates. Although the Montage can read other files from the same drive, it appears that it cannot do an update from it.

Thanks,

Typically this kind of issue would surface if using a large capacity drive (larger than 4GB) or a USB 3.0 drive. You are safest sticking with an approved drive from the list - or be sure to grab a 4GB or less drive (USB2.0) if you are out and about and don't have the list handy.

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R

Hello Edouard - I keep an old 2Gb USB2.0 drive that does nothing else but Montage updates. I format it on the Montage, then put it in the computer and drag'n'drop ONLY the update file - NOTHING else - from the USB drive I've unzipped the download file to. Back in the Montage and it works - as you have found.

Jason,

Yea - the one I was trying to use originally was much larger than 4GB. Then, I grabbed one I used a while back with the first update, which was exactly 4GB.

Thanks for the advice.

Ah, Great idea! I'll definitely do that. 😀

Thanks a million Rob!
