How can I stop the Montage from sending aftertouch to external synth?

Hello again.

I am using my Montage 8 in conjunction with a Roland Integra-7 module. Is there a switch in the Montage to globally turn aftertouch on and off? There are boatloads of Roland sounds that respond to aftertouch, but I don't want them to. Sometimes this happens with other synths as well.

Is there an easy way just to tell the Montage NOT to send aftertouch data out of its MIDI ports or even to its own sounds? And then turn it back on?

Thanks.

Michael

Thanks for this.

I'll add that in addition, you have to be sure to go into Zone Settings and turn Zone ON, and then set a transmit channel.

The important thing to recognize — the Zone Master function is how you can intelligently determine what is Output via MIDI.

Like any synth or keyboard with MIDI cabaility, the “prime directive” as to what it Outputs via MIDI is data, that if captured by a MIDI Recorder and played back to the synth or keyboard, will accurately reproduce every nuance of your Performance.

The MONTAGE can transmit internally to its own engine normally which may or may not be what you want for your external device…. The Zone Master function allows you to use a Part slot exclusively to control your external device. You literally substitute your external device for the internal MONTAGE sound.

Zone Settings are what gets transmitted Out via MIDI… which you defined based on your external device.
Therefore, when ever you desire to control an external device, you need to place an internal Part to activate the Part slot, then substitute your External device for the INTERNAL Part (you do so by turning the Zone Switch = On, then setting the INT SW = OFF, and finally setting up the Channel and items you wish to transmit to the external device.

Hi I was reading here. https://yamahasynth.com/learn/montage/zone-master-faq-mastering-montage
Then thinking this might make an excellent video training from Yamaha sometime.

Maybe if we see all this verbiage demonstrated in different scenarios it might help make a little more sense of not only the architecture but also best practices for setting up things and maybe even demonstrating common mistakes when using zones versus hybrid mode. I know that I have tried hybrid mode thinking it would work a certain way with zones and gotten some strange results or not the result I imagined when using plugins. But I also think trying to get 2 pieces of hardware to talk to each other is sometimes daunting.
