I want to use my Montage as a Midi Controller Slave for Vsti ? to control the Vsti from my DAW thru Montage so that I don't need to use the Other Midi Controller for Vsti.
Please instruct in details.
Thanks
When you say "slave" you mean Montage will slave the clock? Because what you describe seems to be using Montage as a master controller.
At any rate - generally a VSTi has some kind of "learn" feature where you can map CC values to different performance aspects of the VSTi.
Each VSTi is slightly different. Many have a MIDI learn feature.
If your VSTi needs transport controls - Montage doesn't support those.
When requesting help - the more details you give about the specific configuration you're targeting, the better the support. VSTi details might help. There's not really a universal way to control these.
When the VSTi lacks some features - sometimes you can make up for this by using software (plugins) between Montage and the VSTi in the MIDI chain.
Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
Thanks for your quick answer @Jason !
Basically, I want to use Montage as a midi controller, from there Montage can play any Vsti or Plug in on Cubase to record the midi for my music project...Instead of using Montage internal sounds I'd like to use the Vsti sounds and I don't want to buy the others midi controllers since I already have Montage. That's the reason I need to know can I use the Montage as a Midi Controller ???
Thanks

Yes, of course, it can be used as a master MIDI controller for any VSTi or synth Plug-in in Cubase.
All that is required is a USB connection between MONTAGE and your computer and the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver.
On the MONTAGE, set Local Control Off
Create a MIDI Track for each VSTi you wish to use
Set the MIDI IN to “MONTAGE-1” Port 1
Set the MIDI OUT to “— the VSTi —“
It’s basically that simple.
Thank you all,
