I'm wondering how to load "ancient but still good sounding" Motif ES Voices into Montage.

Is it enough loading for example "ES Pre123+Dr1-32.X0V" that were previously converted for the Motif XS?

Thanks for any further explanation that shed some light on this subject.

Use the .XS format if you have it

Then see https://usa.yamaha.com/products/music_production/synthesizers/montage/compatibility.html

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R

Comments to the specs.
The specs are for firmware 2.0.
Montage does not see 3X. files with firmware 2.5.
At least mine does not.

For those of you who enjoy programming but hate building things completely up โ€œfrom scratchโ€ every time, starting with the Motif ES Voice data is an excellent exercise. Youโ€™ll find the familiar sounds, brilliantly programmed, come to new life in the MONTAGE engine. Also since the ES was back when the AWM2 engine was but four Elements, each of the sounds invites additional programming using the other four Elements.

The majority of ES Voices convert extremely well to MONTAGE single Part Performances. I have made a Library collection of ES data. I forgot how great many of those sounds were, and now with all the new features, effects and the additional control options, not to mention the four extra Elements that can be added!

Some of the Arpeggio data from back in ES days doesnโ€™t translate well, as there was a major change in the Mega Gtr Arpeggio construction... but other than those few Arp phrases... the data makes a great addition when looking for variations. Itโ€™s the synth stuff that is the real find! The pads, musical effects, leads, etc.

The great forum over at Motifator.com I'm sure has both - ES Pre123+Dr1-32.X0V and ES Pre456+Dr33-64.X0V
http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/view/converting_motif_es_and_mo6_mo8_data_to_the_motif_xs_and_motif_xf
There is also the CD Sounds for the Motif ES at this page - http://www.motifator.com/index.php/forum/viewthread/461260/
This contains folders on VoiceData, PatternFiles and WavFiles
Once again the great 5pinDIN has it available for download
There are numerous ES Voices available online in W*V format though.
