None of my tests have shown any difference between using 'Arp Bypass' versus just using the 'Arp Master' switch to prevent arp output.
Are there specific use cases for using 'Arp Bypass' rather than just using 'Arp Master'? If so, what are they?
1. Neither switch setting is preserved on a power OFF/ON cycle
2. Neither setting permanently affects the stored/permanent value of a part Arp switch. The 'Arp Bypass' switch (but not 'Arp Master') DOES alter the displayed/current/effective value of the part Arp switches by using OFF for all parts even if the setting is ON.
Tests show that setting 'Arp Bypass' to ON does NOT permanently affect the stored Arp part setting for any part. If part 3 has Arp ON but you change 'Arp Bypass' to ON the screen will show part 3 as having Arp OFF. But if you now store the performance it will show part 3 with Arp ON (and 'Arp Bypass' as OFF) after you load it again because ON is the stored setting - it was just temporarily overridden in memory when 'Arp Bypass' was set to ON.
Why was 'Arp Bypass' added when it seems that the front panel master switch can already do the same thing?

This is a replacement for a similar thread that appears to be in limbo due to a gateway error of some sort. I have ask Yamaha to delete the other thread - which still isn't working properly so please don't reply there.
From the first part of a reply by Jason I think he was saying that the difference between 'Arp Bypass' and 'Arp Master' is that 'Arp Bypass' stays in effect while power is ON and thus acts on ALL performances that might be loaded - overridding the 'Arp Master' setting that is saved for each performance.
Please note that I am NOT suggesting that 'Arp Bypass' isn't needed or useful. I'm just saying I don't have a use for it and would like to know what use cases it was designed for.
In my own use if I only turn 'Arp Master' OFF when I am designing/modifying a performance so that the arps don't get in the way of other things I am doing. Then I can still rely on being able to load a new performance and having it work as designed because it will include its own setting for 'Arp Master'.
Personally I don't have a need/use for globally disabling arps in all performances. If I did have a use for that I think I would want that to be preserved across a power OFF/ON event. But that is just me.
If anyone actually uses 'Arp Bypass' on Montage classic or M please describe what use cases it helps you with.
