I start Cubase first, then start the Montage and most often (but not always) Cubase doesn't find the Montage. I then have to turn the Montage off and on again (sometimes more than once) to get Cubase to recognize the Montage ports.
I have replaced the USB cable. No improvement.

Please change your ways... Start Montage first.
When you launch Cubase, during the splash screen it is surveying what is connected to your computer. They are not showing you the logo to advertise, it actually is surveying everything that is connected. If your Montage is connected during this launch it will find it every time.
Simple solution: turn on your Montage
Connect it via USB to the computer
Launch Cubase
It will find the Montage 100% of the time.
