I want to use my Montage 8 as my Master keyboard in a live setting. Is it possible to control not only an external MIDI device (I have a vintage rack module), but also sounds that I have on a laptop via USB?
Do I need additional hardware to acheive this, or design the patches in Zone control?
Thank you.
Zone Control would help with routing and filtering - but not entirely necessary.
Under Cubase, if I can setup a MIDI track with the input as MONTAGE-1 (Montage Port 1), looking only at channel 1 (even though Montage is in multi-channel mode) and output channel as MONTAGE-3. This will route PART 1 (which I have as full keyboard) to the 5-pin MIDI DIN port where my external MIDI rack device can be. It should be configured to receive messages on channel 1 and should "see" my piano key presses. For the VSTi, I can add an Instrument track with the same input setup (MONTAGE-1, looking at channel 1) and use a built-in HALion Sonic SE instrument ("Electro Wood" ) to show that simultaneously DAW-based sounds can be triggered. The DAW is doing most of the work here of routing. With a computer, there is very little you cannot do.
No additional hardware necessary.
