I checked the specs for 'Montage Connect' which I will use to edit Sequencing on the Montage (something that is going to be extremely important for me to be able to do) and it appears that Yamaha have only released a 64-bit version, but yet my laptop is only Windows 7 32bit. It appears that I will now also have to buy a new laptop..!?

Did I read the specs incorrectly or will I need to buy a new laptop?

If this is all true, then my DAW is Pro Tools 8.0.1 with an MBox, which is all 32-bit as well. I was going to use the DDMF Metaplugin VST3 to RTAS Wrapper, but it looks like my DAW will not work properly. So now it seems I am additionally forced to buy a new version of Protools and a new hardware interface. On top of that, all my RTAS & VST plugins will no longer work on a new Windows/ProTools, so I will need to buy all new effects and instrument plugins as well.

Could Yamaha not have made both 32 & 64bit versions of Montage Connect' like they did with their 'Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver V1.10.0 for Win (32bit / 64bit)' USB driver, as shown on the MontageConnect download page?
I realize that the Montage comes with a free version of Cubase, but I have used ProTools for the past 15 years, have all the plugins and would like to stick with what I know & like 😉

Sorry if this sounds like a rant but I am looking for clarification on specs, as I have spent a fair bit of money over the years on software & equipment and this starting to appear to be more costly than I had anticipated...

I have jbridge. I haven't used it for this purpose, but jbridge is another way to support 64b plugins in a 32b environment. Not sure if this works for you or not. I was previously using jbridge to support 32b plugins in a 64b environment - but the reverse is also supported.

I do think native support is best - but, in the meantime ....

I have jbridge.

I've never heard of that before, but will definitely check it out! Thanks...

Ok, there is some potential there. Assuming that would work, the next questions I can think of would be, will 'Montage Connect' even install on Windows 7 32-bit to start with? Is 'Montage Connect' basically just a VST3 plugin and/or stand alone VST3 app as well, or is there more to the installation that requires 64bit Windows running in addition to the VST3 part?

I can't speak for stand-alone, but as a VST - 32b should "install" fine on 64b system because this is simply the act of copying a DLL with dependencies to a directory and then jbridge or similar handles the rest.
