Logic and Cubase problem? I play a midi note on my montage8 (local off) to the daw sequencer, but it records three events note overlapping. Have you noticed?
Montage in single midi I/O Mode send, correctly, a single note event. But, In this mode, when I record my track to the daw, Montage not receive (it does not play) all multipart of the multi performance. I play one note, Daw records three note.

If you are transmitting in MIDI I/O Mode = Multi and you are playing multiple Parts, for example a three Part Performance, you will be transmitting on three MIDI channels. Each Part you transmit to is on a separate channel.

Say the three Parts are Piano, bass and drums... each will be transmitted to on its own MIDI Channel, so when you record there will be three channels of information. It is that simple.

The piano notes will trigger the piano sound, the bass notes will trigger the bass sound, and the drum notes will trigger the drum kit.

Perhaps what you don't know or haven't figured out is it only takes one track to record 16 MIDI channels.
And the MIDI Channel is always included with the event. The channel you set in the DAW actually rechannelizes the data on Output.

Use one track to record when playing multiple Parts, then use DISSOLVE PARTS to separate the data to their own track if you need to Edit.

Hi. If you are Giovanni who ask the same question on Yamaha Montage Community Facebook page, i have answer this :

Unselect Keyboard Control for part 1 and 2 and stay on part 3 alone with keyboard control "on".
Like this you record only part 3 midi notes and logic can send already recorded midi data on part 1 and 2, you can stay in MIDI I/O : Multi like this.

As far as i understand fine the way you work with logic and the track 1 and 2 for part 1 and 2 you have already record in logic Daw.

If it' s not the case, please describe with more details your working process and we can try to help you better πŸ˜‰

When recording MIDI to a DAW, you typically work with LOCAL CONTROL set to OFF on your Keyboard. This allows you to do channelizing of the data in the DAW. Many DAWs record whatever channel is sent IN to any Track. If "multiple channels" are sent IN, you must take care in your settings to transmit "multiple channels" back OUT to your synths.

There can be no shortcuts given without a complete idea of what it is you are trying to accomplish and on which software.

Suggestion: If, for example, you are recording in traditional sequencing style (one track after another) then start with the MONTAGE using the "MULTI/GM" Init template.
From the HOME screen
Press [CATEGORY SEARCH]
Touch "Init" > "Multi/GM" > [ENTER]

This places one instrument sound on each of the 16 Parts of your Performance. When using [CATEGORY SEARCH] set your "Attribute” setting to "Single". Start with Part 1 going to Track 1 of your DAW, rinse and repeat.

Once you have recorded a composition like this, get back to us with your specific questions.

Thanks so much! I record the multiple midi tracks simultaneously on DAW with Montage "local off" and multi midi I / O (key on). Export multi-performance to audio track stereo and leave single performances on the midi sequencer.

Post Scriptum:
There may be a bug: sometimes, if you check, even if Monty is ok, more notes are transmitted / recorded on the same key to Daw. If you activate and deactivate the "keyboard" on the patch (and also the local on / off switch) after everything is ok.

In G/M it's all ok. But , but, unfortunately, it does not always work. I will be unlucky πŸ™ ... but there seems to be a bug. If I modify the G / M performance whith single performances, sometimes, they send more notes to the same key (to the DAW). If I turn on and off the "Keyboard" control on the patch (and Local on / off keys) it seems normal.

If you have a properly prepared GENERAL MIDI File it should recall sounds correctly. We can help with that. Start with the Init β€œMulti/GM” Performance.
