Hello together,

i got my new Montage M7 yesterday. I notice noise on the outputs with balance and unbalanced cabels. It is really visible on the meter of my audio interface. Both cables are new. I have the problem if I go over a small yamaha mixer as well if I go directly into my RME audio interface. There is no USB cable plugged in.

Do you have and ideas? Otherwise I will sent it back.

Thanks in advance for and help.

Best regards,

Sven

Hi Sven, I own a montage 8 classic and used the exact same configuration with my new Montage M8. A hissing sound on the main output and it didńt matter whether to use my mixer at home (Mackie 12 Vlz) oder the band Soundcraft ui16.

i contacted Yamaha and they could not replicate the problem and sent me a new unit.(all in January )

But again, same problem. Then I switched the unbalanced cables to symmetric cables (one side XLR, other stereo Jack) and the problem was gone.

For any reason for the M series only balanced cables work. It only occurred on the main out. When using the assignable out, there is no problem with the unbalanced cables.

I hope it helps.

kind Regards

chris

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your feedback. I have now identified the problem. My small Yamaha mixer was connected to my sound card (RME Babyface FS). I have connected the sound card to my Lenovo laptop. When I plug the USB-C cable of the monitor into the laptop (it serves as a hub), it starts humming. I have now also connected the sound card to the monitor and everything is fine. I've never experienced anything like this before, but I work with a DI box on stage anyway.

Best regards,
Sven

Hi Sven, you answer on one Facebook group that you have found this

I found the problem. It was not the montage m7. My mixer is connected to my audio interface. The audio interface is connected to my laptop (Lenovo). The problem occurs if I connect my laptop to my 32 inch screen via the USB-C cable. I do not understand why this is not a problem for the Nord Stage 4.
Is it not the issue ?

My first answer to your facebook post was

Use balanced cables, are they good quality? Do you have test the reverse way, use the cables you have on Nord with the Montage M and the new on Nord to check if it can be the new cables. Try also direct connexion to your audio interface to check, remove the sustain pedal too to check here is the problem.

PS seems that Nord Stage USB B is only MIDI and not provide audio bus, perhaps it’s why it does not produce this electric noise.
