On the Montage, start on the PERFORMANCE (HOME) screen
Press [CATEGORY SEARCH]
Select the very last Main Category: "Init"
Select the fourth option "Multi/GM"
Press [ENTER]

This Performance sets a Concert Grand in each PART, except 10 which has a Drum Kit.
You can now replace these with your own selections.

Yes, there is a Montage .XML, our own Tony "Tones" Escueta prepared one... we'll try to get it posted here on Yamaha Synth... in the meantime, you can use the Montage's PART [CATEGORY SEARCH] to select individual programs for the sixteen PARTs.

Touch the PART NAME in the screen, a pop-up menu appears, touch "SEARCH"... The PART Category Search will appear, you can select a SINGLE Part for each slot.

Hi I've istalled montage XLM tone definition and try to use it to reproduce a midi file with some track from Cubase LE AI Elements 8.
montage is connected to cubase by "montage connect" and it is ok

I have a lot of issue and it seams to me impossible to use montage to reproduce midifile by the montage tone generator.

First of all I select montage program "Multi/GM"
I can select instrument in cubase for any midi track because now I've got montage XML file, but when I select drum tone by cubase on track 10 it happens that montage change program from "Multi/GM" to performance with the name of drum tone that I select for track 10 in cubase....so I lost "Multi/GM" preogram and no sound for other instruments I have because montage change from "Multi/GM"
It happens only for drum track; infact if I change instrument in the other track (track2 for example for bass) and I choose other instrument from cubase interface montage don't change program but only part instrument (right behaviour). Why it happen?
In this way it is impossible to use cubase to reproduce midi file by montage tone generator.
Is it there other way to have a multitrack midi file charged on cubase and to select for any track the tone of montage tone generator to have in any of 16 parts of "Multi/GM" program?

Make sure when selecting the DRUM KIT you are selecting from the "Single Part" listing.
Sounds like you went too far down the list and selected from "Multi Part"

Yes it was!!! Thanks. But now I've another big problem. Anytime I press "spacebar" to play and stop the running of midi track it happens that in multi/GM montage program it is changed part 10 and in particular part 10 go in "PIANO MODERN: ROCK BRIGHT PIANO" also if in cubase I setted for track 10 the program "REAL DRUM KIT".
If I start midi reproduction and change the part 10 setting in cubase selecting "REAL DRUM KIT" in the time that reproduction is gone montage work right and go to "REAL DRUM KIT" but if I press space bar to stop midi reproduction and again press space bar to start midi reproduction it happens that montage part 10 go to "PIANO MODERN: ROCK BRIGHT PIANO". Why it happens? It is impossible to reproduce midi because anytime I start and stop it change part setting. No other parts transmit on channel 10 and so I can't undesteand. To be true it happen about all parts. If I select an instrument for part 2 bass when I start reproduction the choosen instrument it is not mantined and it gone in other instrument.
I can't belive that it is so difficult. I have instrument. I have midi file. I only want to select montage instrument on cyubase track to use my montage to reproduce it but it seems impossible to do this easy things. Usually with other rack module if I have instrument list it is easy and fast to do that.....why with montage all this problem that it is very difficut? Yamaha should do something easy to use to reproduce midi file selecting instrument from montage!

Sounds like Basic MIDI File stuff.

If the file contains a Program Change in the TRACK data, this naturally overrides your selection. The instrument simply follows the commands you send it, when you tell it to change it does.

It happens that you are apparently unaware that your file already has Program Change data in the track data. How that happens is you forgot you put it there or someone else prepared the data. When you reset to the top of the song, the DAW sends the Program Change at the top of the Track, in preparation of you pressing Play. That is a feature! It ensures the Song resets to the initial stored setting within the Track. And is very necessary FEATURE!

It is a problem for you (and not a feature) because you are either unaware the program change is there or you forgot to remove it, or tell the instrument to ignore it.

To show you how common a mistake this is... your file is recalling via Program Change, without the proper Bank Select. That is why it is recalling a piano instead of a drum kit.

Suggestions: Edit the data in the File removing the original author's program selections

Turn Bank Select and Program Change Off in the UTILITY mode - this way your selection will remain, and the instrument will ignore incoming Program Changes

It could be if I restart from the beginning anytime, but I simply press two time spacebar without going at the top of the track.....I remain in the middle of the track....but it happens. I can't edit midi file because I can't find (in a cubase AI version that is with montage) a feature to edit midi setting of the track. If I turn off program change I can't select instrument to use from cubase because montage can't recive program change....and so one more time it is not working

Wich is the cubase version that allow to see and modify any track midi parameter?
