Hi. My new Montage 8 doubles my touch sometimes on the touch screen. I calibrated it and it didn't change it. So if I type "abcde" it types "abbcdee". But it's not consistent in what it doubles. It is consistent in doubling often like every time I type a word in the search bar or use the touch screen for anything. Suggestions?
Thanks, Maggie
Hi
I have the same problem since I have the Montage.
I don't find any workaround.
Please make sure you have removed the protective plastic sheet that covers the screen when it comes from the Factory. Please discard it as it can interfere with the operation of the touch screen. Assuming you have already done that, if you are still getting double letters, you should recalibrate the screen. [UTILITY] > "Settings" > "System" > "Calibrate touch panel"
I have found that once I changed my technique in touching the screen, I no longer get doubling of characters. At first I was touching and waiting to see the letter appear, once I found that I didn't not have to hold the letter, at all, just a quick tap... I have stopped having the issue.
I will check with service and see if there is an official recommended remedy other than calibration. I will let you know.
Hi
Thank you for your advices Bad Mister.
Trying recalibrate with various finger pressures seems giving better results for me, but not resolving totally the issue.
I try also to not holding the letter.
Thanks for the advice. I already did all that you suggested and it still doubles or triples characters. I can show you a video. It doesn't matter how lightly, deeply, quickly, slowly I touch, it continues to do it. Thanks for following up on it, Maggie
I have the same problem since ever. I found out that pressing it firmly with some pressure solves the issue for me. Not 100% satisfying but that's really the only thing which is not perfect in the Montage hardware. I can live with that...
Hello Maggie - I think it's us rather than Montage. I occasionally get the same thing, and concentrating on it I found that during a single tap my finger did an involuntary double press, sort of nervous thing, I suppose. I changed to using a stylus (fingers too big anyway) which reduced it a lot. I now have a 23" external screen and an extended stylus - and it still happens now and then!
Could be a screen sensitivity thing... we'll pass it along to engineering. It's a bother when naming...
Thanks everyone and Bad Mister. Ya it's annoying everywhere. Instead of volume at 12 I get 122
