Multipleplayers - One Montage

This is to pick up on a previous thread about triggering notes (playing the Montage) on an external Keyboard. Since it appears that this is a subject separated from the thread it had followed, I've decided to post a separate thread to ask my question.

Is it then possible to have one player on an external board trigger part(s) of a performance (i.e. Part 1 & or 2) on the Montage, while those sounds are not triggered by the Montage AND an other musician, sitting on the Montage, still play the Montage triggering the remaining parts (excluding the sound being triggered by the other player on the external board or MIDI controller?

I play with a couple of musicians and we do not have the best board sounds. So, if I can share the love with them while not having to get off my Montage, that would be very nice.

I will try to experiment with this later today; but, I thought I'd ask. If this is possible, how would I go about it?

Thanks

It should be doable. I don't have a Montage yet, but according to the manual, you just turn the keyboard control off for parts of a performance that you want your bandmate to control. Montage's MIDI mode needs to be set to Multi (instead of Single).

Your bandmate needs a MIDI controller which can send data on multiple channels simultaneously, as each part in the Montage recieves data on the corresponding channel (Part number = MIDI channel number).

That should be it, but don't hold me for it - as I said, this is only based on what I've read 🙂

Dimitri,

Thank you for the reply. I will definitely try it and see. I'll report back with the results - and maybe more questions 🙂

Hi Dimitri,

I tried the suggestion as you stated above, but, it did not work. Any suggestions? Have you tried it yet? If so, can you help me out with a step by step?

Thanks
