Hi there,

I've got a question, and I suppose as most of us !
Do you know if there is some Montage/ModX software update coming soon ?

Thank

Yamaha is tight-lipped about those matters; even if anyone here knows they can't tell you.

We find out about updates the day they drop.

We hope Yamaha continues the development of the Montage firmware: there are rumors (I hope they are officially denied by Yamaha) that speak of the Montage Project actually finished and that any new firmware will only fix small bugs.
It would be a real shame: I only think about the fact that one of the two SWP70s is almost completely unused (MODX has only one).
In reality, Montage could still offer a lot without upsetting its structure: I think about what I managed to do (wavesequence and Wavetables) by exploiting what Montage is already able to do now.

Benedetto if you look at Yamaha's updates over the years the Montage is in the window for an update. If you read articles by that guy who did a deep dive into the Montage internal circuitry he says they is still some room on the current circuit board to be updated. So it is possible for Yamaha to make a hardware update to keep growing the Montage. But as he points out in the article is hardware updates are the easy part, they expensive part in money and time is updating the software to take advantage of a hardware update.

With the current state of the world and economy who knows when flagship level products are going to be updated, especially since entry level products selling like crazy. So I think it a bigger guessing game than in the past.

Thanks! the article I wrote and the free library with the various sounds and waves are just a starting point to explore with Montage completely new sounds and very "far" from the classic AWM2 and FMX.
As I said before, I hope Yamaha can develop the idea in new firmware!
