I have a Montage 7 and was wondering if anyone had any problem with no key sound on part of the keyboard. I was setting up a scene with strings, pads and piano. I muted the string and pads and started to play the piano an i had no sounds on the lower end. They would go out an in and i had to press hard to get a sound. I was using the concert grand. I had to restart the board. I would appreciate any help.

This could be absolutely normal. Perhaps this will help…

What you are describing, on its own, could be perfectly normal. It could just be that you are not completely sure how to add/merge sounds into a new Performance.

Many times the mistake is selecting to add just one Part of a Multi Part Performance (blue) to your creation, where that one Part is only set to play in a specific area of the keyboard or to only respond to a specific Velocity range. You would get exactly what you are describing.

When you are in Category Search, blue listings are Multi Part Performances, green listings are Single Part Performances.
If you select a Multi Part but only copy one Part… it may not play across all keys, it may not sound at all Velocities.

You’d need to provide more information about exactly what you are doing.
We’ll put a link at the bottom of this post to the Tutorial Mastering MONTAGE article that clarifies the three different Category Searches… understanding the difference is an important concept to grasp before creating your own Performances.

In some Performances the soft strike Waveforms are together in a Part, the hard strike Waveforms might be in a totally separate Part.
So imagine that you selected a program and “merged” just the hard strike Part, the Part that only covers a Velocity range of 93 thru 127… you would have to play fairly hard to get it to sound.

Please provide specifics, we’ll point out exactly what’s happening.
