Manuals are free to download from Yamaha  https://usa.yamaha.com/products/music_production/synthesizers/montagem/downloads.html

If you purchased a 700 plus page manual for Montage M6 then you should consider returning it and getting your money back.

The official Operations doc is only 590 pages and covers all three Montage M models: M8X, M7, M6.

You are correct that, for whatever reason, Yamaha abandoned the previous doc version format that had embedded links and a good table of contents.

Much of the M model functionality is the same, or similar to, the classic Montage functionality so the previous doc, which does have a TOC and is searchable, can be useful:

https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/9/812529/montage_en_rm_b0.pdf

In your thread in another forum a responder referred you to a master list of 96 videos for the M models that cover basic functionality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1QFE52k3bE&list=PLS-Ia4lCojtxP6YKCKlS5-q0GpQMwf2wR

You may also find it useful to review the extensive list of articles and videos for the classic Montage since much of this info is relevant.

If you have questions about a specific issue or function just create a new thread and post the particulars. It can sometimes help to know how you plan to use your M6.

We all work differently.  The HTML version of the Operation Manual might be easier to use.  It's one of the options under downloads.  Brings you here:

https://manual.yamaha.com/mi/synth/montage_m/en/

In the upper right are 3 horizontal lines aka "hamburger menu".  You can click on this to get a table of contents.   There's a search feature too but it may be easier to search through the downloaded PDF.

The HTML version is better indexed and better cross linked.  So it may be a useful tool to use before you know what to search for then transition to using searches inside a downloaded PDF.

If you get stuck then feel free to reach out.

cannot see where those dots are.  will that show me table of contents and what page certain things are?  I wanted a printed version of the operation manual, easier for me rather than going to the computer.  the download from yamaha still doesn't show a table of contents, or am I missing something.

If you want a table of contents you need to use the online HTML version and click on the hamburger menu in the upper right.  It's 3 horizontal lines.

I don't know why they made the documentation so fractured this time around.   The online version is linked and has contents but a wonky search that's worse than other examples of similar online documents from other manufacturers and no index.   The PDF (download) has a great search but no table of contents or index either.

The best you can do is hobble about with the online doc to get the table of contents so you can start to get familiar with the terms then migrate over to the searchable PDF armed with what you learn to search for.

Or also just ask outright here what you're stumped on and get "spoon fed" (not a bad thing, BTW) until you get enough bearings to self serve.

Not a requirement, but if there's something you see as deficient in the documentation's structure then it would be helpful to articulate those to ideascale where your suggestions will be reviewed during a weekly meeting by Yamaha and hopefully commented/agreed upon by other like minded users who have the same struggles.
