Wow, it's been over a year since I emailed synthesizers@yamaha.com, and still no 'functional' Yamaha Synth Forum.  I can't participate in any other forums, as my posts still don't show up, and when I view other threads, most of them show only 1 post.  There seem to be a select few that can reply to a new thread and actually have their posts show up.

And throughout the past year, I've emailed synthesizers@yamaha.com, Blake and Nate several times about this, with no response.
When any new customer goes to YamahaSynth.com and clicks on FORUM (YamahaSynth.com/community) there should be a banner at the top indicating there are issues with the community forums.  The lack of communication about this issue is not good!

It doesn't matter what browser I use (Edge or Chrome) nor whether I'm on Windows 10 or 11, the YamahaSynth.com Forums don't work properly.
Just to even view the newer threads, I have to log onto the forum, which I never had to before they revamped this site.  But that's Ok I guess, I'll just accept that it's no longer a 'public' forum for just anyone to see the latest posts (which is a shame really).  However it would be great if Yamaha could just restore the basic ability to reply to someone else's post, or at a minimum, keep us informed of the issue & the status..!?
Perhaps those with a MAC using Safari are having better luck..!?

So, I rarely come onto these forums to check Threads & Posts anymore, and mainly stick to just the Yamaha Musicians Forums.
For 6+ years (starting in 2018) I would participate regularly on this Forum; However since Yamaha completely revamped the site, it has not worked properly since well over a year.  I can't imagine buying my Montage 8 (or especially a new Montage M) and not having the ability to post on here and participate in the Montage Forum.  I was able to get answers to questions and find ways to make some things work on the Montage via this forum (that were not obvious), and I don't think I would have gotten answers for them on the yamahamusicians.com forums.

It's a shame really.  I don't get the silence on Yamaha's part regarding this issue.  I don't understand why they have gone over a year and have not fixed it.  It is a great disservice to Yamaha customers new & old, as well as potential customers looking to buy a new synth.  It's become more of a bulletin board for certain people to announce things on.  Perhaps this site should be renamed to Yamaha Bulletin Board!?

Will this site ever be back to somewhat normal again.  Here's to hoping that maybe 2025 is the year, as 2024 was a complete write-off on this Forum!

I'm sure Yamaha are actively working hard on a new MODX/MODX+ replacement synth, that would certainly drive new forum posts, threads, communications way up; However will these forums be functional again by then!?  It's been well over a year since I've been able to use it, and with almost no communication from Yamaha about the issue (ostrich with head in the sand), so what will become of these forums?  Will it be fixed in time for the MODX/MODX+ replacement, as the majority of time after the release of the Montage M, it has not been functioning as a useable forum...!

The ironic part is that I won't likely be able to reply to this thread or any post on it anyway, so there most likely won't be any discussion on my part...who knows, this post might not even post at all, as I end up getting Cloudflare errors! 😌

See the 'Broken Forum' thread I just bumped.

I've posted updates a couple of times about my experience.

Almost 3 months ago support (Blake) emailed me back saying they had a 'new team' working on it.

The last I heard from Blake was Dec 7, 2024 and he said this:

We are trying to get the forum and the YamahaSynth site working better. There are reasons behind the issues with lots of moving parts, and I’m sorry that this is causing you so much grief. We are a small team working with a new process and appreciate your patience as we work to get this resolved. As soon as we have a bit more information, we will provide an update.

Yes - there is still weird stuff going on including what you mentioned:

1. Many times Jason's replies seem to show up without using the 'hidden replies' trick.

2. Sometimes replies to very old threads show up normally - as if they use different code/server in the background

3. Today I could login without an error using a normal Firefox window and could post this reply. Normally I have to log in using a normal window and then get an error. Then I have to use an 'Incognito' window and login again and everything is ok but I still can't see replies without using the 'hidden replies' trick

4. There is ALWAYS a long timeout after you hit 'Submit'. Then the error is error is often 'Bad Gateway' but sometimes is something else. But a few seconds after submitting the first line of the reply shows up in the 'recent posts' list and is available for others even though my machine is still waiting for the bad gateway message

It is what it is. Only Yamaha knows what value, if any, they put on the forums and what resources to allocate to it.

I'm with you, Darryl.  The utility of the forum has greatly diminished without sufficient relief for an extended period of time.

It may be challenging to fix due to structural decisions (outsourcing, etc) but whatever the reasoning - the lack of progress points to priorities.  The forum does not appear to be high on the list relative to other things.  This is somewhat surprising given the currency that socializing has in recent times.  It's become a big part of marketing strategy and customers generally reward the enhanced access provided by support forums.

Hopefully the next phase of the forum will be more robust and won't be another house built on sand.

I still continue to advocate Yamaha leverage their own resources and reach across cost centers by using the Steinberg forums for Yamahasynth.  To my knowledge, those forums have been relatively more stable and are based on a platform that others seem OK with.  There's also synergy in having the software and hardware support in the same spot.

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
