When I switched on my Montage 6 today the Super Knob lit up and the opening screen appeared. This then changed ,as normal, to the Live Set screen but the Super Knob light went out. This is how it stayed - no other light came on. I could play whatever Live Set I selected.
I switched off and then switched on again but it powered up normally this time. I'll keep my eye on it and report if it recurs - but have we got the beginnings of a fault?
Curious, do you keep it plugged into a hot outlet and switch it off and on using the power switch? I know the power switch is actually labeled On/Standby so something is being kept active even when the Montage is switched "off" but still plugged in.
I have a master power switch on my rig that kills the power to everything, like unplugging it from the power outlet. I leave the Montage power switch in the On position and turn it off and on with my mains breaker, so it never sees the Standby switch position. I haven't had any issues.
Wonder what's being kept alive when it's in the "Standby" mode...?
When not in use I keep it switched off and also switch off the main power supply at the socket.
There is a minute amount of power going to the keyboard on 'stand by'....why? I don't know
It'll be interesting to see if it happens again and I'll then do some further investigation.
I'd like to know about the main breaker scenario. My whole rig powers on and off using a remote control power switch so I also do not manually flip every unit in my rig on/off as that would be totally annoying. Plus it's almost impossible to reach these power switches that are on the rear bottom. My Montage and TF1 and CP1 never see any sort of standby as I kill all of the power completely when I'm done with one flip of the remote switch. I have had a glitchy reboot once when nothing on the Montage came on except for the screen and that was unresponsive.
perhaps a mod could merge the two threads about bad boots into one
