Is it possible to send out midi CC# when tapping the tempo?

I have this Specular Tempus guitar pedal that I have connected with midi cable,
and it receives tap tempo on midi message CC25. This can be changed to what I want on the Specular Tempus.

Is this possible at all?

There isn't a CC that relates to tempo nor is there a way to make one.

MIDI clock will send a varying amount of 0xF8 (hex byte) status messages per unit of time to indicate tempo. So for the same amount of time, the device will send more 0xF8 messages for faster tempos or less for slower tempos. A quarter note is defined to have 480 of these status bytes. That's how tempo is transmitted.

Nor can you relate some controller that would itself send out a CC to tempo because tempo is not a destination.

Firmware level 3.7 (current level is 3.8 - which fixes some MIDI clock bugs) of that pedal added support for receiving MIDI clock - so why not use that mode? I believe you have to set MIDI clock from "local" to "global".

From the manual:

Local / Global tempo

The tempo of the Delay algorithms in Specular Tempus can be set to be Local or Global.
Local means the delay time is set to the tempo as was saved in the preset.
Global means the delay time is set to a global tempo shared by other delay algorithms.
For example, 2 different delay algorithms are stored in preset 1A and 1B, both are set to use global tempo. Then any
tempo changes you make while using the delay in preset 1A will become a global tempo which will then dictate the
tempo for the delay algorithm in preset 1B.
 The Local / Global setting can be specified on per‐preset basis.
 Tempo must set to ‘Global’ to accept MIDI Clock.

OK, so then the tempo will sync up with the tempo set it that particular performance on the Montage?

Is there anything special I need to do on the Montage to make it sync midi clock?

Yes, assuming the pedal isn't buggy. This is the 2nd swing at adding MIDI clock to the pedal.

On Montage, turn MIDI send clock on.

Set “MIDI Sync” = Internal _ Montage will generate clock
Set Clock Out = On
