2. when I choose a performance on the Montage to play, I did not hear the sounds on my MacBook, I used the internal Macbook speaker as my monitor speaker because I don't have an external audio interface to connect it to .

Montage Library Files must be loaded directly to the Montage using a USB drive connected to the Montage "To Device" port. A Montage Library File .X7L is Type of file created by and readable by a Montage synthesizer.
The Montage when connected to your computer via USB as you have done, becomes its own audio and MIDI Interface. You should expect to hear audio from the Main L&R Outputs of the Montage. This includes all audio of the computer.
Connect your Montage to a pair of good Studio Monitors, if working at home, or a good stereo sound system. The Yamaha Steinberg USB driver is designed to use the Montage as the audio interface. If you don't have a sound system, use Phones, the audio of the computer system will be heard via the Montage headphones output.
The driver that runs the MacBook internal audio system is not sufficient to do recording, you'd do better using the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver and simply use headphones.
