I found a previous forum response in a post from Bad Mister in May 2023 in reply to a question about saving USB audio playback volumes for individual performances but cannot seem to work this through on my Montage (not Montage M):
Press [EDIT] > [COMMON]
Touch “USB Audio” in the first column
You can set the USB AUDIO Volume so that it works with each of your Performances, as you require.
however, after selecting PERFORMANCE / EDIT>COMMON i dont see an option for "USB Audio"...only "USB Monitor" on my Montage...which doesn't take me to a section where you can set the USB AUDIO VOLUME for each Performance. It does have "USB Monitor qas a settable option but that doesn't seem to help with addressing the audio volume issue.....Am I being stupid here??
Is P.147 'Audio In -> Mixing' what you want? That page has performance level volume parameters for A/D In and Digital In.
The Forum seems to be broken at the moment so difficult to send replies....Toby, my problem is not to do with using A/D Input. This is about using the USB to pay backing tracks. /whilt idio seemable to create a Live Set link to the individual backing tracks, I'm yet to find a sucessful way to save individual audio volumes for each track. Wonder if you (or anyone else) have any ideas? I though the reply I found on a previous forum post was going to solve it but i can't currently make that work for me.

You're right, that option isn't provided. The only saving grace is that the audio level is mapped to one of the encoders below the display (second one from the left). To enable that just press twice on the Audio play button. The leftmost encoder is mapped to the audio file play position. So as soon as the audio file starts playing you can change it's volume yourself using the encoder knob.
Oh, and another annoyance regarding USB audio playback; until the audio file completes playing, any program changes you send to the M will be ignored (apparently by design).

If you have enough memory left - import the audio as a user waveform and add or utilize an existing drum Part (assuming you currently use 7 or less Parts and need to add a drum Part). Then you can save the volume of each "track" by adjusting the drum key volumes and saving ([STORE]-ing).
Seet the drum key to ignore key off so the audio file plays all the way through. You can map the drum keys to extreme keys so they are the top or bottom keys or even keys that are further away forcing you to press OCTAVE+ or OCTAVE- to reach them. That's assuming you use this Performance for playing notes for a tune in the middle of the keyboard. If this Performance is only for audio then you can stick the trigger drum keys right in the middle.
If the instrument had infinite internal memory I would advocate to always utilize audio files this way.
