Since the Montage has balanced outputs, do I still need a DI box?

I get that the Montage has balanced outputs, so that it can drive the snake cable back to the desk directly. But are the outputs isolated?

Or, even more specifically, will the Montage be damaged if there is phantom pair send to it without a DI box in the way?

Am I worrying over nothing?

Thanks guys. Great forum.

Do not plug anything, including your MONTAGE, into anything providing +48V, except a device looking to draw that power (condenser mic, for example). The MONTAGE has balanced outputs (TRS) you can run this without a direct box. But please avoid plugging into inputs delivering phantom power, even with a DI Box.

For isolating phantom power from equipment, a 1:1 / 600ohm transformer can be used between the phantom powered side and isolated side. Some direct boxes have this feature (ART DTI Dual Transformer/Isolator Passive Audio Interface).

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
