I totally agree. The pushback in the past has been that apple mobile devices are homogeneous (one way to code for them) vs. different and varied support for the same MIDI access for Android devices. Over time, MIDI support has become more standardized on Android. With bluetooth and Yamaha's own bluetooth MIDI interface hardware - it seems like the barriers to handle at least MIDI interfacing are low for Android vs. the past.

Back in 2018, I filed an ideascale for exactly this request.

In 2018, Android "M" was available which is still the API level required to enumerate MIDI devices - referred to as "JVM MIDI". Since then, there have been further capabilities. Android "Q" in late 2019 added an option for more real-time response to MIDI by adding non-blocking MIDI ("Native MIDI" ) as an audio callback. The 2018 JVM MIDI API could be used for Soundmondo as low-latency is not a requirement. The JVM MIDI supports bluetooth MIDI which would be the most universal way for Android support since there would be no dependencies on the USB port's implementation as there would be for more direct wired MIDI connections.

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R
