Remember that when you edit a performance by pressing the "+" in an empty part slot and select to add another performance your "SSS" might disappear in your newly saved performance. Say you only have (2) empty slots available and you happen to grab a 4 part performance. The Montage will insert those (2) extra parts into slots 9 and 10. They automatically overflow without any warning. You might not ever notice this unless you go search for all of your parts on the 2nd page (press part select and then 9 -16 and that page will appear) You will notice that under your performance list that the "SSS" icon has now disappeared. The (2) overflow parts are now outside of keyboard control. Does this mean that they don't sound or fall-off in performance mode?

Curiously what happens if I take a MIDI cable from the out to the in on the rear and then transmit on all channels? Am I now playing all 16 parts under Montage keyboard control? Well, technically it's under MIDI control but I'm still using the Montage keyboard as the 16 part controller. Not that you'd want to play all 16 parts at once but it's possible and you can zone and/or mute the parts that you don't want to be heard. I wonder if part muting and unmuting causes any breaks in the sound. I need to experiment more.

If you end up with more than 8 parts in a performance it's indicated on the home screen in the top right hand corner above where sss was - it shows 9.........16 with a yellow dot for each part with a sound on it. Those sounds can't be played simultaneously with the keyboard control parts but can be accessed indivually with the part control and part select buttons.

Muting sounds eg with the scene buttons for instance will mean that the sound on that part stops immediately which makes sense though - muting something is silencing it. I've used the scene buttons to get between various combinations of sounds in a performance and it works very well if the sounds are quite percussive or don't have a decay tail as the button press can be done very quickly and the change is instant and the reverb in the performance means the change doesn't sound too abrupt.
