Sustain/damper pedal not working on guitar sound “over the top” does anyone know how to fix this issue haven’t been successful with my entry level methods. Thanks for your help!
Try setting 'Arp Part' switch to OFF. See that switch on the graphic on p.82 of the Modx Reference Manual.
Don't have a Modx but it likely works the same as an Montage M8X.
That performance only has one part and on an M8X both that 'Arp Part' switch and the 'Arp Master' switch are ON.
Setting the 'Arp Part' switch to OFF allows the sustain pedal to operate normally. You could also set 'Arp Master' to OFF either on the screen or on the front panel.
You are the man! Can’t believe I overlooked this
Just don't ask me WHY the sustain pedal doesn't work, regardless of 'Key Mode' if both Arp Switches are on.
Guess I couldn't 'trick' you into asking!
Bad Mister answered that question in this 'MASTERING MONTAGE: THE 4-TRACK ARPEGGIO' article several years ago. Remove the leading hyphens to get a valid link - they were added so the link wouldn't be removed.

The Sustain pedal takes the place of you holding down the keys… it does not sustain the sound (as on an acoustic piano), this is a synthesizer, remember. HOLD is technically, the keys being in KEY ON mode. The Sustain pedal keeps the KEY ON mode active. We mention this because it is a frequently asked question; as to why the sound does not sustain when an arpeggio is playing. It’s because it is the arpeggiator phrase that is “playing” the Part, not you. You are providing the trigger notes, so when you step on the Sustain pedal it is you extending the trigger notes. If you want the sound of the arpeggiated Part to sustain you would need to place the Sustain pedal controller message (cc064) in the actual arpeggio data.
Regardless of the arp's Key Mode when both Master and Arp Part switches are ON the arp is in control so the sustain pedal won't work like it normally does.
This can be especially baffling when 'Arp Select' selects one of the 8 arp slots that doesn't even have an arp in it. Then you many not hear anything at all depending on the Key Mode.
Don't beat yourself up for not knowing this one!
