Did a search and tried some of the suggested fixes (reverse pedal polarity, start up with pedal engaged, etc) but no luck.

I have a MOOG EP-3 Expression pedal that I have tried in the Sustain foot controller input in my Montage 6.

It works, but only when it is in HEEL BACK position.

Changing polarity on pedal has no effect. Would like to have it engage when it is in TOE DOWN position.

I also have an old LINE 6 EX-1 Expression pedal I borrowed and it works just fine with the TOE DOWN engaging the Sustain.

Have tried both a TS and TRS cable.

Any ideas??

Using an expression pedal in the Sustain Jack will not work properly. You want to use something like the Yamaha FC3/A or FC4/A. The FC5 will work also. These are momentary type switches.
