having just upgraded from the MOXF to the montage, looks like there's no dedicated rotary knob to adjust tempo. What's the "best practice" way to adjust the tempo in real time (excluding the tap tempo button)?

The Data Dial

How it works:
Touch the tempo (top line of the screen)
Immediately adjust the Data Dial

Press [EXIT] to return wherever you were when you touched the Tempo

Extra Credit: Alternate Methods:
MONTAGE is iOS compatible so any good Metronome app (for example, Yamaha Metronome) connected via USB plus LUCA (Lightning USB Camera Adapter).
Set MIDI SYNC = MIDI
This gives you a dedicated Data Dial for Tempo
Set USB VOLUME = 0 in MONTAGE to silence audio from iPad/iPhone

Some historical threads:

I haven't solved this issue yet because I have been shying away from either using ARPs or just not worried about the tempo ritardando I previously did with the MO6 using a physical tempo knob. However, I do have some ARPs I may start using and having the physical knob would be beneficial vs. menu diving for the data dial during the gig and dealing with the, at times, counter-intuitive way the data dial works for tempo use.

The best option for me still appears to be the extra credit method as mentioned in the other threads - to slave Montage to something external that does have a knob. I'm not going to want to invest in the iOS device + adapter just to get this going - dedicated devices aren't much cheaper

http://www.disasterareaamps.com/shop/smartclock-gen3-tap-tempo-controller (knob may be too precise - steps not large enough)

I may eventually build something.

I still wish for tempo to become an assignable destination so I can use superknob and/or an assignable knob or the modwheel, etc to adjust the tempo and assign my own curve to the response instead of being locked in to how the Data Dial works (and also the extra overhead of menu diving to make the data dial associate with tempo).
