Does anyone know how (and where I would go to do this) to make a mandolin like tremolo arpeggiation on the Montage? I realize it won't have the mandolin 'sound,' but I could make it work in this show I'm doing if I could at least do the tremolo.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
From the other thread
... you asked for tremolo - there is a "Tremolo" ARP as well - not sure how that fits into what you need.

The MOTIF XF promotion file "Inspiration In A Flash" includes a sampled Mandolin in good quality in USER 4.
Because there are some installing problems of the complete library because of used sample formats I uploaded an extract including only the Mandolines.
There are three sampled Mandolin performances (high velocity with tremolo).
Please send a mail to
montage@easysounds.de
After that you will get the download access.
The file XF_Mandolin.X3A is added to the download folder, which includes mainly tutorial files.
You can load it to MONTAGE to USER or LIBRARY.

Thank you, Peter!!!
Peter has been SO generous and helpful to me with these mandolin sounds, and I thank him profusely! All 3 of these sounds are great.
Peter, I experimented and found with a Velocity Offset set to 90 (versus 127 - all on tremolo), the touch sensitive tremolo kicks in just perfectly when keys are pressed a bit harder on the "Mandolin Trem Vel" and the "MandoBouzukiTremVel" performances. Glad I didn't have to bother you any further to get it just right! Thanks again.

I got it, Thanks for your help Peter

Peter, I tried loading the XF sounds that are now enhanced and available for V. 2.0. If worked fine, but now I can't get your wonderful mandolin sounds to play at all, just silence. What am I doing wrong? I had it working perfectly before this backup/restore session. When I try to load in mandolin "waveforms" it tells me the libraries are full. Help if you can, I have an encore performance that will require that sound once again.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Gary
The new firmware doesn't do anything to make incompatible libraries such as "Inspiration In A Flash" load into Montage.
In this session, we'll continue our scuba dive into the MONTAGE via converted Motif XF Performance data - and doing it with the New Version 2.00 of firmware for your MONTAGE.
...
If you are working with a custom Motif XF ALL data file (.X3A) File, please be aware that MONTAGE cannot translate older compression schemes (LPC, WXC), nor can it import 8-bit data.
The reason Inspiration In A Flash and other libraries have not converted is because they use LPC, WXC, or 8-bit data.
With v2.0, the situation is slightly "worse". Before, you knew that Performance data would not translate -- so you just wouldn't see any performances. Now they do convert - so all those performances that convert and use XF/XS/MOXF voices with non-supported data (LPC/WXC/8-bit) will not sound properly. In other words, now even more stuff doesn't sound properly compared to before.

Wow that's really a shame. Hmm... any suggestions Jason, or Peter? This puts me in a bit of a bind for a mandolin sound. I imagine re-installing the backup I created before updating to 2.0 still won't work because the OS has changed. I'd appreciate any help creating a new mandolin for OS 2.0
On another note - is there a way in Utilities to delete a library? I know I can start from scratch and simply NOT install the unneeded library to free up a library slot. I'm just wondering if there's an easier way that I'm missing. Thanks in advance.
I'm not getting something here - if Peter previously released a "just mandolin" performance for Montage that worked with a previous Montage firmware version - then nothing has changed and this should continue to work. Why it would have worked before and no longer works is a head scratcher for me.
If you tried to install the entire "Inspiration In A Flash" - expecting it would work without using the "just a mandolin" performance - then that does make sense. I would delete "Inspiration In A Flash" (since it doesn't work) and just keep the "just a mandolin" performance installed.
To delete a library [UTILITY], Contents -> Data Utility, touch "Library", touch the library you want to delete, left-hand side touch the "Delete" option, confirm deletion.

I skipped past some of the beginning of the video. Didn't listen to it - but this is the part of the video where the deletion is actually made.

I never did install the "Inspiration in A Flash" (didn't even have it), Peter had somehow separated out and sent me only the 3 mandolin patches. These still show up as performances, but produce absolutely no sound. I don't know how to fix this and wish Peter would chime in here if he has a minute.
Thanks for the library deletion - pretty simple.
I've figured it out and have that glorious mandolin working again, with tremolo even!
Hi, on modx6 Peter's x3a files works but without repetition. Is there any solution?
