These 2 gentlemen (Don and Dr. Chowning) are 2 of my favorite human beings. Having spent time with both while I was with the company, I learned a great deal from both, as should be expected. Having spent time with Don on the road doing clinics and concerts, I can attest to his love of music, technology, and life itself. I also remember him as being very funny and could be somewhat of a prankster. Kansas City comes to mind. And Minneapolis. And on and on. Great fun with that guy. Plus I learned a lot from him. And of course Dr. Chowning, what can one say? A humble genius and true friend. I could go on for pages about that man. Oh, and Blake isn't so bad himself!
When I first dug into the DX7 as a musician and at the time a Yamaha dealer, I started programming/voicing immediately and never really stopped. How can you not dig deep into that technology? It sure was very rewarding and still is. I believed in the company's vision and was very happy to be hired as a District Manager in 1984 and remained until 1998. In those days we were kind of our own "product specialists". Fun times and very educational. I was quite relieved to see the likes of Phil Clendennin arrive; more fine folks were to follow.
Thanks very much for this great video. I wish the company continued success in all Divisions, and will never play another brand of keyboard.
