Hello - hope you all enjoyed Christmas? But a distant memory ... I tried putting '.X7B files' into the pdf search box of the Reference Manual, but told it to search all pdf files in 'Documents' - came up with 0. Tried it in the site search box, gave me dozens of mostly my own Posts about the 'Connect' facility ... so, I'm back again with another dumb question. I gather that .X7B files can only be created on the Montage. OK, but how? That's the question, folks!
Allied to this, I've tried 'Copy and Paste' to this site - but it won't accept it. So how would one offer an X7B file, for example? All Go, ennit?
Hi, .X7B file can only be done with Montage Connect.
You cannot done it with your Montage by saving on the usb flash drive, you cannot load from the usb flash drive an .X7B file.

Zip it. Even though the file is very tiny, compress it because zip files can be uploaded and attached to your post.
The "B" in .X7B is "bulk". And is short for "bulk dump" - a system exclusive package that represents the parameter settings of the current program. And as Joel points out is a file created and read by the Montage Connect application.
Hello Joel and BM, haven't been on Montage for 2 days, and have just followed your advices - in 'Connect' Recall mode I retrieved my Performance from Montage, then in 'SAVE' mode I saved it to my Montage folder. I then zipped it, so it appears in the folder twice, and will now endeavour to attach it to this Post ... fingers crossed! Hey! That seems to have worked ... 'Gorgan' is a simple noisy organ, a slightly tweaked mix of 3 Parts. I used it purely as an experiment in uploading files to this site, so I think I can add another badge to my skills collection - thanks guys ... Happy New Year ...
Glad you got that sorted out. Previous documentation doesn't cover X7B since Montage Connect didn't exist and, as an "offline" tool, is not part of any of the previous "standard" documentation sets.
Documentation for Montage Connect:
The ZIP file is the "best" resource as a reference for Montage Connect. For Windows, Montage_Connect_100_win.zip contains the file: "Montage_Connect_Manual_en.pdf". There are 12 hits for a search of "X7B" (I wouldn't add "file" or the ".").

Hello Jason, thanks for taking the trouble to document the various 'Connect' references, but as you say they are DAW-orientated, which only confuses the heck out of me! Joel's video confirmed what I'd done following the 'zip' advice, so I think I'll leave well alone and stay in the Stone Age! I see 'Connect' as a medium for exchanging ideas, although there doesn't seem to be any interest in doing so?
Well, if Soundmondo, which currently supports the four reface units, is any indication (as it approaches 10,000 User downloadable sounds) there is plenty of interest.
Hello BM - that would be nice! I've been playing about with some of Chris's X7Bs - he wouldn't know them now, which is just as well or he'd probably kill me ...
