Quick question_ I have a Yamaha Motif xf6. I am using Cubase 10.5. I'm trying to set things up to use my Motif sounds within my Cubase tracks. I understand there are 2 options. A MOTIF XF Editor (Standalone) and a VSTi Editor (within Cubase) It looks like you install one or the other. Which One Should I Install? My need is mostly to use a sound or two from the Motif as part of my Cubase projects.
Thank You!
Also, I am using USB connection and using a Windows 10 PC
When you install the EDITOR both versions are automatically installed - Each is placed in the proper place on your computer by the installer. You simply have two ways to access the program:
The Motif XF Standalone version will have its own icon to launch and it requires only that you have installed the proper Driver (Yamaha USB-MIDI Driver for your computer type and operating system or if you are using FW then the Driver is the Yamaha Steinberg FW Driver).
The Motif XF VSTi version, installed at the same time, can only be launched from within a VST3 compatible DAW (like Cubase). It functions as an intelligent plug-in to the DAW.
When using the Standalone version, you will SAVE a separate Editor File for each session.
When you are using the VSTi version, your Motif XF data will automatically be saved when you SAVE a Cubase (.CPR) Project File. You can have the DAW restore all your Motif XF settings automatically when next you open the Project File.
Thank you, Mr Bad Mister!
